Hey everyone,

Wishing everyone the best for 2007. Since Lorne's first name has been decided I changed the byline to "because every pilot should have a call sign". That's the next step. What is Lorne's call sign. Hope they keep showing more Lorne. Looking forward to the episode "Sunday".

I also just caught up with The SciFi World's interview with Kavan. What a crack-up.

Well it's been a while since I've posted but I thought I'd share how I'd like TPTB to introduce Lorne's first name on Atlantis. What do you think??

Sheppard and McKay are standing around as Lorne approaches.

Sheppard: Hey Evan, are you playing Poker at Beckett's tonight?
McKay: His first name is Evan?
Sheppard: It could be worse, it could be Spansky.

In a worldwide exclusive The Gateroom has an interview with Kavan Smith on it's site in which he announces the official name of Major Lorne. It's......well you didn't think I'd steal their thunder did you?

Mark this on your calendars. Sunday October 1st The Gateroom will be publishing their exclusive interview of Kavan Smith, Spansky himself.

Anise from The Gateroom announced on the Sony Atlantis forum that the interview will include "Kavan's thoughts on Lorne's personality, what his original career was planned to be, and the FINAL, OFFICIAL word on Lorne's first name!"

Is it true? The father of Horror writer Stephen King was born David Spansky. He later changed his name to Donald King.

Just imagine if it is true....Stephen King could have been Stephen Spansky!

I'm still wiping away the tears I laughed so much. If you haven't caught up with the youtube video do it now! Kavan Smith was asked about Lorne's first name at DragonCon. Here's some of his answer:

Somebody's trying to call the guy Spansky. What the hell is that? Those jackasses are gone! LOL.

Googling Spansky

Well I googled Spansky tonight - 13,700 results and the petition is third!

I know a lot of people think it's too weird a name but I did notice something interesting in the Google results. There was a link to a tv movie from the '80s starring Sean Bean called Punters (aka Joey and Spansky). The Spansky character was played by Tom Davidson.

So we're not totally making this up. It could be a real name :-)

Thanks for all of the new signatures coming in. Hopefully the Kavan Smith interview at The Gateroom will be published very soon. As soon as we find out we'll let you know.

We've also recently added a section to the Lorne article on Wikipedia about the mystery concerning his first name and the Spansky campaign. Here's hoping it stays.

Yikes! Sci-Fi cancels SG1

Well you take one day off from the Stargate boards and websites and all hell breaks loose. If you haven't caught up with the news the Sci-Fi channel have cancelled Stargate SG1. Executive Producer Robert Cooper has promised that the franchise will live on but is not ready to make any further announcements yet. He has urged people to "watch both SG-1 and Atlantis LIVE and make sure the ratings stay strong."

We at Make Lorne Spansky are dedicated to bringing you all the most update news about the Spansky cause. And the most up to date news is we've finally got a petition. Oh yes, we have. Making a petition like this does take a special kind of person. Someone brave, witty, beautiful, carefree, and completely off her rocker. I know that's a big step for some people, but luckily its a step I took long ago. By signing a petition like this, don't worry, you aren't selling your soul to the devil, and you aren't advocating a greater evil. The Spansky Campaign

Hey everyone

Welcome to the online Spansky campaign. Major Lorne on Stargate (played by Kavan Smith) is without a first name. A bunch of fans on the Sony Stargate Atlantis forum wish to change this and would like to push the cause for Spansky.

Why Spansky? Well it's fun and we're all about fun.

We'll be starting an online petition soon. We'll advise when this is up and running. We'll also have banners and buttons for you to add to your forum signatures.
